Today’s word is: Revelation. The Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines the word as: “an act of revealing or communicating divine truth.” The last few years have not been kind to most of us, but I’m still thankful for the revelations that we have received. The illustrious Dr. Jemar Tisby often says that we are in a “sifting phase.” We are finally starting to see where the people in our lives stand and we are now forced to examine our own beliefs and practices. It might be painful, but damn if it isn’t enlightening.
For me, giving thanks is a daily occurrence. I don’t need a federal holiday to remind me of the insanely good fortune that I’ve had. I’m thankful for all of the wonderful people that comprise my tribe. I am also thankful that I had the privilege of growing up on Catawba land and now reside on Susquehannock land. Above all, I am eternally grateful for all of the love, care and kindness of those who came before me.
